Rossen Milanov rings in 2014 at the Opernhaus Zürich’s annual New Year’s Eve Gala Concert. The Opernhaus’s farewell to 2013 will be a program devoted to dance and features ensembles of the Zürich Ballet and the Junior Ballet as well as musicians of the Philharmonia Zürich.
Soloists including Yen Han, Katja Wünsche, Viktorina Kapitonova, William Moore, and Arman Grigoryan will perform sequences from Romeo and Juliet, Leonce und Lena, Swan Lake, Coppelia, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The evening’s performance will also include the Swiss premiere of Christian Spuck’s Grand Pas de Deux, and dancer Filipe Portugal’s own choreography for the “Liebestod” from Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde, the latter created especially for the occasion and featuring soprano Anja Kampe.
Rossen returns to Zürich this spring to conduct a revival of Mats Ek’s Sleeping Beauty.
