On March 7 and 8, Principal Conductor Rossen Milanov brings the Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias to Bilbao’s Musika-Música Festival. The pair of performances, with works centered on the festival’s 2014 theme of Brahms and Beethoven, mark the Bulgarian conductor’s first appearances in the capital city of Biscay.
The first program highlights Brahms’s Symphony No. 1, while the second couples the same composer’s Double Concerto for Violin and Cello with Beethoven’s Leonore Overture No. 3. Violinist Suyoen Kim and cellist Pablo Ferrández join for the Double Concerto.
Rossen and the OSPA reprise their Bilbao programs later in March as well. They are first heard at Gijon’s Teatro Jovellanos on March 13, followed by the orchestra’s home at the Auditorio Príncipe Felipe in Oviedo on March 14.
