On February 27, Rossen Milanov joins the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern for a concert in honor of Weiberfastnacht, a pre-Lenten holiday in Germany that celebrates women. In keeping with the theme, the lunchtime concert is programmed around operatic selections featuring strong female leads.
Soprano Sophia Christine Brommer joins the performance for arias from Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Nicolai’s Merry Wives of Windsor, Donizetti’s Linda di Chamounix, and Bernstein’s Candide. Rossen will also lead orchestral selections from several of these operas as well as Verdi’s Overture to Giovanna d’Arco.
