Tomorrow, Rossen Milanov returns to the Alabama Symphony Orchestra for “The Rise of Exotic,” a special concert at multi-disciplinary performance space WorkPlay in Birmingham. Combining works of this century and eras past, the program includes Biber’s Battalia and d’Indy’s arrangement of Rameau’s Overture to Zaïs alongside Mason Bates’s The Rise of Exotic Computing, Philip Glass’s Symphony No. 3, and Osvaldo Golijov’s Last Round. Additional music will be provided by DJ Coco.
Rossen was most recently heard in Birmingham with the ASO in February 2013, when he conducted works by Haydn, Tchaikovsky, and Shostakovich. For tickets to “The Rise of Exotic,” click here.
