This week, Rossen Milanov makes his debut with the Pacific Symphony in three concerts given on November 13, 14, and 15. The Bulgarian conductor takes the podium for works by Thomas Adès, Mozart, and Brahms that complement one another in spite of the centuries that separated their respective composition dates. The program begins with Adès’s Three Studies from Couperin, followed by Mozart’s renowned Piano Concerto No. 20 with soloist Haochen Zhang. In the second half of the program, Rossen leads the Pacific Symphony in Brahms’s towering Symphony No. 2.
