This week, Rossen Milanov can be heard at Carnegie Hall where he leads the Orchestra of St. Luke’s and more than 15,000 New York City-area students and teachers in a performance as part of Link Up, Carnegie’s music education program. Now in its 29th year, Link Up introduces children in grades 3-5 to the world of music, giving them a chance to perform on the renowned Carnegie stage as part of the experience.
This year’s program, titled “The Orchestra Sings,” focuses on melody and features music by Beethoven, Dvorak, Mendelssohn, Stravinsky, Thomas Cabaniss, and Jim Papoulis. The school-day concerts take place May 20, 21, and 22. Earlier this year, Rossen lead similar Link Up activities as part of his work as principal conductor as the Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias, a partner orchestra in the program.
