On October 18 and 19, Rossen Milanov makes his Colorado Symphony subscription series debut with a program of Russian masterworks. Following Prokofiev’s Russian Overture, Rossen leads guest artist Natasha Paremski in Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor, one of the composer’s most popular and beloved pieces and a towering achievement of Romantic splendor and anguish that cemented Rachmaninoff’s fame.
The program concludes with Tchaikovsky’s buoyant Symphony No. 2, another landmark work of the Russian repertoire that earned its own creator an illustrious reputation.
