On January 11, Rossen Milanov makes his debut with the Louisville Orchestra where he leads the Kentucky musicians in Fallas’s Three-Cornered Hat Suites Nos. 1 and 2, Oscar Navarro’s Clarinet Concerto, and Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9, “From the New World.”
The program enhances Rossen’s connection to Spain and his work with the Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias, where he serves as Principal Conductor: Falla’s Three-Cornered Hat Suites Nos. 1 and 2 were part of his first recording with OSPA, which in turn was named one of the best classical moments of 2013 by the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Furthering the Asturias connection, Rossen reunites with clarinetist Jose Franch-Ballester for Navarro’s Clarinet Concerto, a work which they premiered with OSPA in March of 2012.
