As announced earlier today, Rossen Milanov will become the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra’s ninth Music Director. The Bulgarian conductor, who first conducted the orchestra in 2011, will take over the post beginning with the 2015 season with his public debut slated for July 2, 2015. He will conduct 10 concerts with the symphony throughout the 2015, 2016, and 2017 seasons.
“I am very pleased to welcome Rossen Milanov to the Chautauqua community, an environment in which his remarkable skills and artistic sensibilities will flourish,” said Thomas M. Becker, president of Chautauqua Institution, in a press statement earlier today. “In collaboration with the CSO, Maestro Milanov will engage Chautauqua audiences of all ages in an enriching relationship with great music and the artistry of gifted musicians.”
Rossen, who was recently named Music Director of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, last appeared in Chautauqua this summer when he lead a program that included music by Thomas Adès, Rachmaninoff, and Ravel.
