This weekend sees Rossen returning to Vancouver for three concerts with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra at the Orpheum Theatre February 1–3. The program opens with Brahms’s Academic Festival Overture, which is followed by Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto with soloist Chad Hoopes. The second half of the program features The Smile of Maud Lewis by the late Russian-Canadian composer Nikolai Korndorf, a work paired with Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 9.
