On February 5, Rossen Milanov returns to the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra for a concert in the city’s new concert hall, the North Jutland House of Music. The highlight of the evening will be Britten’s Serenade for Tenor, Horn, and Strings, with tenor John Mark Ainsley and hornist Erik Sandberg. The work is preceded by Copland’s Appalachian Spring and followed by Tchaikovsky’s seasonally-appropriate Symphony No. 1, “Winter Daydreams.”
Two days later, on February 7, Rossen returns to the helm of the Princeton Symphony Orchestra for the ensemble’s popular Saturday Evening Pops series. In a nod to Oscar season, the program will feature Hollywood scores including musical moments from Gone with the Wind, Cinema Paradiso, Sunset Boulevard, Lawrence of Arabia, Indiana Jones, Schindler’s List, and Star Wars. NPR film critic Bob Mondello hosts.
