This weekend finds Rossen Milanov in New Jersey with Symphony in C and Princeton Symphony Orchestra, both of which count the Bulgarian conductor as their music director.
On January 18, Rossen is heard with Symphony in C at the Rutgers-Camden Center for the Arts with a program highlighted by Britten’s Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings with guest artist Dominic Armstrong. The piece is preceded by Ravel’s Pavane pour une infante défunte and followed by Schubert’s Symphony No. 9, “Great.”
The following day, Rossen joins the Princeton Symphony Orchestra and reunites with Jose Franch-Ballester for Oscar Navarro’s Clarinet Concerto, a work he performed the previous week with the Louisville Orchestra and one that he premiered with the Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias. Making the Spanish connection, Rossen also leads Ravel’s Rhapsodie Espagñole, Chabrier’s España, and Debussy’s Ibéria.
